There are changes afoot in the way we communicate with boaties and commercial vessel operators.
Brian Hemming Director, Transport Safety Regulation The last hardcopy issue of On Deck has been mailed out and the publication has served us well. We have moved to the new and improved online format you are now viewing, similar to other dynamic news websites appearing on the scene in recent years.
At the department we are committed to getting the latest safety information to you in the timeliest manner possible – and delivering this information quarterly was no longer quick enough.
This online environment allows us to release information as it becomes available and have a much more interactive relationship with the boating community.
I will be regularly writing about boating matters here and hope that it will spark conversation among the community. New articles and information will be regularly posted, including video and images when possible, showing you what’s happening around the state, nation and the world in marine safety.
There are links to our maps of River Murray hazards and boat ramps, weather information, Notices to Mariners and the Recreational Boating Safety Handbook.
It’s been designed as a one-stop-shop for all your boating information and safety needs, all accessible via increasingly prevalent and mobile modern internet technology.
The future is here for marine safety publications and I encourage you to log on and take a look at the website via sa.gov.au/boatingmarine and click on the On Deck icon.
